Tucked or Untucked is a style that many still struggle with — when to tuck, when to untuck, and what can be untucked without looking sloppy.
Obviously certain functions, settings or the environment dictate that you must be tucked (Black tie, Business Suit, etc), but when you have the option of untucked vs. tucked, we've got a few rules for you to follow to navigate this common question!
A long sleeve, tailored dress shirt should should never be worn untucked. These shirts are designed to be worn with a tie and tucked in — end of story. Other long sleeve sport shirts that have long tails in the front and back is also a no no for untucked. Here's a general rule to follow when figuring out if your long sleeve woven shirt can be worn untucked: the front hem should not go below the crotch of your pants. It’s ok for the front and back to be shaped slightly longer than the sides, but anything hanging lower than this looks sloppy!
This shirts are almost always worn untucked (unless you’re the guy who wears them with a tie or likes to use a pocket pen holder.. then I’m guessing you’re not reading fashion blogs).
Short sleeve shirts are made to be casual but can still be fashionable and classy. Worn with denim, casual pants or shorts is a great look if it’s the right shirt. Again, the same rule applies as with your long sleeve shirts, if it hangs past your crotch or has long tails in the front and back, it’s the wrong one for you.
All t-shirts should be untucked unless you’re auditioning for a “Saturday Night Fever” remake ;). There is not a single occasion that a t-shirt looks good tucked in!
Polos are different and depending on the occasion can certainly be tucked in. Golf Polos are designed to be tucked in and therefore are usually cut longer and do not look good untucked. Your everyday Polo that you would wear untucked should follow the same rule as above. Nothing past crotch level, if it is, either tuck it in or get another brand.
Lastly, let's remember one very important rule. If you start your day with a shirt tucked in, leave it tucked in. There’s no worse look than seeing a guy at Happy Hour with his shirt pulled untucked after being tucked in all day, revealing all the creases from being tucked for 8 hours!

We’re here to help. We’ve put together a few timeless dos and don’ts to follow this season, or whenever you need to look great. Have a few of your own? We’d love to hear from you in the comments section. Happy dressing!
Prints and patterns can be a great way to stand out while still looking stylish and sophisticated (and obviously we love them here at QUIETI). But as in as prints are right now, they can be pretty intimidating. Don’t be afraid to branch out slowly. Start with a simple printed shirt and pair it with plain trousers or jeans. You can see what type of prints you like best before taking on a more complex pattern.
Winter isn’t solely about dark colors and neutrals. Play around with implementing some sophisticated accent colors into your daily wear, like a bright colored shirt paired with dark jeans (we’re big fans of the Entice for this one). From purples and pinks to blues and greens, you can get away with weaving color into your fall looks as long as you don’t go overboard.
Not only is layering practical (hello, cold weather), it’s also a great way to weave that color we just talked about into your look. With pants and shirts, you’re pretty limited. But add in a jacket, vest, or heck, even a scarf, and boom! You get to have some fun. To do it right, make sure your outer layer is longer than your inner hem (so tuck in that shirt you wear with your sweater), and scale your patterns from lightest to strongest or vice-versa — just make sure your patterns have a steady grade.
We could write an entire post about wearing the right socks. Maybe one day we will. For now, we’ll keep it brief: if your look calls for dress socks, wear dress socks. Kill the whole sports-socks-with-suits thing, and don’t show so much ankle that people think you’re Steve Urkel. Oh, and have some fun. Crazy socks are in right now.
The tailored look is timeless. Yet for some reason, finding clothes that actually fit your body type seems to be passe, especially for younger gents. Taking the time to find styles that work best for you is well worth it — as is finding a tailor to make sure your pants are hemmed and your suit fits perfectly.
Layers are great. We’re all about the vests, jackets, scarves, etc. But you know what layers aren’t for? Covering up the fact that you didn't iron your shirt. We can still tell the wrinkles are there, guys. Just take the time to iron.
This is a timeless fashion rule, men. Don’t mismatch your belt and shoes — ever! These should always, always, always go together, no matter how many layers you’re wearing.
Whether it’s a date, a dinner with her family, or lunch with some bigwigs at work, you want to make a great impression. One of the easiest ways to do that is by looking your best. We know the world’s gotten a bit lax, but that’s no excuse to dress down on your way up. Keep it clean, sharp, and tucked in when you need to make ‘em say “wow”.

]]>As you undoubtedly know by now, we’ve completely redone our site’s look and feel. The result is a cleaner, more straightforward look that provides an easier shopping experience. When we first took QUIETI and Vintage Italia online, we got some pretty valuable feedback from you all. We heard our site was hard to navigate, was outdated, and just wasn’t very fun to use. We’re trying to change that.
We created QUIETI because we wanted a simple shirt that the modern man would love and feel great wearing. It only makes sense that we have a website that gives our customers the same great feeling.
We’ll keep making updates over the next few weeks, but for now, we wanted to get the Fall/Winter 2016 lines in front of you before the holidays (you can also check them out at Dillards, Saks, and other fine menswear retailers across the country). If you have feedback on how the new site looks, let us know! We love to hear from you, and we want to make this the best experience possible for each and every one of our customers.
Thanks for sticking around, and we hope you enjoy the new site. It’s really good to be back.
